Funeral services for Erma O. (Mrs. John) Kander age 84 of rural Clarkson, NE will be on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Pilger, NE. Interment will be in the Pilger Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Pilger, NE and will continue on Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church.

Erma passed away on Monday, July 9, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Tekamah, NE.

Erma Olga Kander was born November 28, 1927 in rural Stanton Co., Nebraska to Frank and Vlasta (Belina) Hansen. She attended Stanton Co. Rural School District #30. On February 8, 1949, she was united in marriage to John E. Kander at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Howells, NE. The couple farmed in Stanton County and remained on the farm until moving to the Golden Living Center in Tekamah, NE earlier this year. Erma was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pilger, NE.

Erma was a very caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was active in church socials, loved dancing, and sewing. She made an abundance of quilts and other needlework, which she donated to the Salvation Army, churches and her family. Erma was always willing to lend a helping hand and never liked being fussed over, but would fuss over everyone else. Erma enjoyed cooking, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, and her cats.
