Berniece Kaufman was born March 3, 1925 on a farm northeast of Beemer, NE to Sam and Mary (Huebert) Oswald. Her family lived on farms in the Cuming County area of Nebraska. She attended country schools through 10th grade and was baptized at the Plum Creek Mennonite Church as a teenager.
On December 26, 1950, she married Leslie Kaufman of Manson, IA. They made their home on a farm near Manson until moving to a farm south of Wakefield, NE in 1960. She belonged to a neighborhood Birthday Club and the Serve All Extension Club.
Berniece moved to Beemer in 2006 and lived there until she entered the Wakefield Health Care Center in 2016.
Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were a source of joy.
